Green Country Veterinary Hospital

Our Philosophy

Welcome to Green Country Veterinary Hospital, where we offer alternative therapy options for dogs, cats and some exotics in the Tulsa Metro area.

Our Mission – Integrative Medicine

Our mission is to provide the most comprehensive approach to improve the comfort and performance of your animal companion in a friendly, professional atmosphere. Using both modern technology and ancient healing arts, we aim to integrate alternative treatment plans with conventional veterinary medicine to achieve the most effective results.  Our treatment strategies are based on the philosophy that the body contains the innate ability to heal itself.  We simply help remove barriers to natural healing and help restore balance. Mainstream (Western) veterinary medicine is often focussed on treating a specific problem in one part of the body or a specific set of symptoms, which is sometimes at odds with the wellness of the whole animal.  The goal of integrative medicine is to treat both the symptoms and the deeper underlying imbalance in the body with therapies that complement Western medicine, but are safe, have minimal to no side effects, and are often, seemingly miraculously effective. In Western medicine, we often wait until the animal is showing significant signs of disease before being able to diagnose or treat. Alternative medical exams and therapies can also be used to identify and treat imbalances in the body to prevent the disease process from progressing further and restore wellness.

A New Approach to Treatment

People are increasingly seeking out natural approaches to healing when conventional medicine does not yield the results they expect.  The concepts of using alternative therapies such as acupuncture and cold laser therapy in veterinary medicine are relatively new to the Tulsa Metro area.  Our goal is to educate both clients and referring veterinarians in the area about the benefits and applications of alternative therapies and the potential power of integrative medicine. We also hope to dispel any misconceptions about what alternative therapies can and cannot do.  We are well grounded in Western veterinary medical practice and seek to add a rational, professional approach to alternative therapies with proven results.  Most importantly we would like to encourage a shift in the treatment process toward total body wellness, not just treating the symptoms.  We consider both the physical and mental health of the animal as well,  since there is a very powerful mind-body connection that is often ignored. By working with your referring veterinarian we can provide the best possible care for your animal and ensure the greatest chance of return to health.  Western veterinary medicine is often focussed on treating a specific problem in one part of the body or a specific set of symptoms, which is sometimes at odds with the wellness of the whole animal.  In Western medicine, we often wait until the animal is showing significant signs of disease before being able to diagnose or treat.  Alternative medical exams and therapies can also be used to identify and treat imbalances in the body to prevent the disease process from progressing further and restore wellness.
